Donna Azcuna Armentrout, Psy.D., HSPP
Psychologist at Notre Dame's SPIRIT Clinic (Suicide Prevention Initiative - Research, Intervention, & Training)
Description:
Suicide is a leading cause of death in the U.S. and a common referral concern in mental health treatment. There can be hesitation, however, in treating clients that present with self-injurious thoughts and behaviors, as these cases may appear ethically or diagnostically complex. This continuing education class explores trauma-informed and culturally sensitive approaches in suicide intervention with a special emphasis on professional ethics.
2 Ethics CE's will be offered for Indiana licensed professionals (LCSW, LSW, LMHC, LMFT, LCAC).
Learning objectives:
1. Examine ethical concerns related to trauma-informed, culturally sensitive suicide intervention.
2. Discuss historical and current suicide treatments and their effectiveness.
3. Identify ethical suicide treatment strategies to apply in your practice and community.
