“OCD: A Beginner's Guide"

Location: Elkhart Aquatic and Fitness Center, Elkhart, IN  

We are offering this as a Hybrid event, though in person is encouraged.  

Speaker: Angela Henry, LCSW

1 CE will be available for Indiana licensed professionals (LCSW, LSW, LMHC, LMFT, LCAC). 

Description: 

This 1-hour educational event will be an overview of OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) and two evidence based and promising treatment options.

 Learning objectives:

1. Attendees will have an understanding of the symptoms and presentations of OCD in both the adult and pediatric populations 

2. Participants will be able to know the general difference between OCD and OCPD to help inform case conceptualization 

3. Clinicians will be able to have a framework for understanding related disorders of OCD and common comorbidities 

4. Participants will be able to note the difference between obsessions and compulsions in clients 

5. Understand a general framework for two evidenced based treatments: ERP and I-CBT 

6. Attendees will gain information on where to refer clients for more specialized treatment of needed 

Speaker Bio: 

Angela M. Henry, LCSW is a licensed clinical social worker practicing and serving clients in both Northern Indiana and Southern Michiana areas.  She is in private practice, specializing in OCD and anxiety related disorders, body focused repetitive behaviors (BFRB’s), Tourette Syndrome, as well as trauma.  

Angela is a certified EMDR therapist, and has completed the Behavioral Therapy Training Institute through the IOCDF (International OCD Foundation) and is a graduate of the Professional Training Institute through the TLC Foundation for BFRBs (Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors).  She also completed specialized training from the Behavioral Therapy Institute (TS-BTI) in Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT).   She currently holds memberships with the IOCDF, TLC Foundation, EMDRIA, and the NASW.

Angela resides in Granger, Indiana and when she is not working; she enjoys being in nature, singing, writing, and caring for her fur babies.  She is a mom of three adult children and is an active board member of The Rhema Project; a not-for-profit serving to empower the female in Southern India.
